BRANDON – The late Dr. Murray Smith has been acknowledged with a spot on the Brandon College (BU) College of Training Wall of Honour.

Dr. Smith is the primary addition to the Wall in additional than 10 years. He taught at BU from 1989 till his retirement in 2001. Previous to that, Dr. Smith labored at a number of faculty divisions in addition to with the Brandon College Northern Instructor Training Program (BUNTEP) and the Program for the Training of Native Academics (PENT) at BU.

Dr. Smith helped develop science and math curriculum for Manitoba colleges and wrote two science textbooks that have been in use within the province. Moreover, he helped to implement the Secondary College Instructor Training Program, which was primarily based on PENT’s format, to coach academics within the southeastern African nation of Malawi.

Colleagues, relations, buddies and present school gathered for a reception at BU on Friday. Many remembered Dr. Smith for his avid devotion to accumulating fossils. He even discovered a beforehand undiscovered species of crab, which was later named after him.
